How Does She Do It?

I do a lot of my writing on the weekends and schedule the posts to publish automatically during the week.  And I’m trying to be more intentional about just writing reflectively without having to draw big important conclusions.  I get really anxious about making my writing perfect, and especially about impressing people with my insight, and that’s stupid.  Whether or not y’all think I’m smart doesn’t have any impact on my identity in Christ.  That realization has been a long time coming.

  1. I take the same approach to writing on my blog. I write so much for my job during the day that I don't usually have the energy to make interesting points or reveal insights. So I just write what I'm interested in. Sometimes it's interesting, sometimes it's boring, but it's my blog and I set the rules. People can choose to read or not. Hopefully they like it, but if they don't, it's no stress. Same with comments. If people comment, great, if they don't, then fair enough.

I'm glad you're back to blogging more regularly because I like reading your posts. And if they're something I'm not especially interested in, I at least appreciate the effort 😉

  2. Please accept my apologies, Laura. Some of that — wanting people to think you're smart — probably is a manifestation of the old covenant from your dad. I still struggle with that. Glad you're dealing with it 25 years before I started to.

  3. Thanks for commenting, Angus. Even if my posts booooore you. 😉

Dad, no worries, I was bound to run into sanctification some time or another, even if I do try to keep away from it. Ha! Love you.
