On Alternative Energy — From Slate.com

Alternative energy will benefit billions in the developing world. – Slate Magazine.

Thought-provoking. Technology “leapfrogging” sometimes happens in the developing world when a brand-new technology takes hold in places where the previous step in the technology couldn’t or didn’t. Cell phones are the classic example: areas without land-line infrastructure now don’t need to string telephone wire (at sometimes-great expense, particularly in the remotest areas) because they discovered that cell towers do the job as well for less money. Will the same thing happen with solar, wind, geothermal, and other forms of alternative energy?
